Political crimes
Political crimes
A political crime can be defined as one that, both by its intent and by its effect, constitutes a direct attack on the country's institutions.
The law does not explicitly define the political crime and thus does not explain what is meant by it. Indeed, due to the evolving nature of the concept, case law and legal doctrine are intended to define it.
However, case law fills in this definition very narrowly, so very few political crimes are tried by the Assize Court.
