Press Crimes
Press Crimes
A printing press crime is defined by case law and legal doctrine as "the expression of an idea or opinion that constitutes a violation of the criminal law by means of printed writing or a similar process, provided that actual publicity is given to the writing containing the crime.
The definition of press offenses is also not provided in the legislation. Again, case law fills in this definition in a very limited way, so that very few press offenses are also tried by the Court of Assizes.
