Crimes

The Court of Assizes

The Assize Court handles the most serious crimes, also called felonies. If one is found guilty of these crimes, the Court of Assizes must hand down a prison sentence of 5 years or (much) more.

The law recognizes different types of life crimes, being crimes that result in another person's death. In terms of sentencing, it makes an essential difference whether a person is convicted of murder or manslaughter. But just what is the difference between the two? And what if one attempts to kill someone but fails to do so?
